As summer gets underway, people often disengage from the news, spending time on the beach or on a hike instead of in front of their screens. The world never stops, however, and there are stories that do not get the attention that they deserve. This week I decided to use the Digest to pull in interesting articles you might have missed (from sources you might not read otherwise) that touch on three different topics where you might want to get up to speed: further research into “long COVID,” the crackdown on Hong Kong including the pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily, and fighting in Ethiopia’s Tigray region

After long being isolated, this week the international arena kicks off again face-to-face, from football to global finance.
